 the right to vote and we stand now at the 99th anniversary of the women efforts that allow us to both

 express ourselves and direct our countries future

  Filling every inch of the Ford with Dance. Women Rising celebrates the ground breaking work of LA women did in creating the art form of Modern dance in the early 1900 and that creative excellence lives on today in the current female choreographers. Women Rising both honors the past and takes the audience into the exciting present day creativity with stage production and site specific work created 10 of LA’s top female lead companies. Dance styles are flavored by modern, jazz, Bollywood, contemporary but all have the unique perspective that comes from being female in LA. Companies include: 

JazzAntiqua, LA Contemporary Dance Company, Luminario Ballet, 

Kybele Dance Theater, Rosanna Gamson / World Wide, Blue13  Dance, BrockusRED,   SARAH ELGART / ARROGANT ELBOW, 

 MashUP,  Kitty McNamee.

in our daily practice and through programs in LADF designed to open the doors to arts jobs to under served youth

our town is a strong spot for creative choreographing women who lead the LA dance community 

teaching , choreographing, running companies, studios, foundations, grant divisions, theaters
