Seda Aybay's contemporary master class is focused on quick weight shift, use of momentum, alignment, and strengthening through fusing the control release technique with Horton vocabulary. The class begins with a center warm-up designed from a classical approach to dance through various exercises, to bring the fundamentals back to the body. After a short series of off-centered turns, extensions, and jumps company repertoire is taught at the end with an emphasis on performance quality.

Fast-paced, energetic and educational, this 90 minute class will challenge students to engage body, mind and spirit, release into embodied knowledge, and begin to explore their own individual performance choices from beginning to end. This experimental movement class begins with a breath-led floor warmup that helps body and mind relaxation aided by gravity. Participants will explore methods of managing core energy to produce various scale/intensity/tempo of movements effortlessly by applying the principles of classical Korean dance such as circular energy flow, breathing technique, and foot articulation. Exercises evoke participants’ awareness of one’s body as a vessel of energy circulated through space. Class consists of somatic exercises, step pattern locomotions, and improvisational exploration accompanied by the live drum play.    $10 @DaEunJung

In the MBodied House Movement Class, you are invited to explore your relationship to freedom of body, movement, and improvisation through the lens of House dance. As a first generation, former foster youth and street dance artist, Gabriel has shared his healing movement practices since 2013, rooted in shifting traumas stored within the body. This movement class, open to all level dancers, will focus on introducing house dance technique, the relationship between freedom and movement, creating improvisational cues, and giving a shifting breath to the trauma we carry. Participants are encouraged to bring water, wear closed toed sneakers, and comfortable clothing. $5-15 sliding scale @mofundamental
